Description
130″ FR Batiste White is an extra-wide, lightweight sheer drapery fabric designed for weddings, events, hospitality, commercial interiors and large decorative installations where a soft, flowing appearance and certified flame resistance are required.
Made from 100% polyester, Batiste has an airy, elegant drape with slightly more body and texture than a very lightweight voile. It softly filters natural light while maintaining a translucent appearance, making it an excellent option for layered drapery, decorative backdrops, ceiling treatments and large-scale event installations.
At an exceptional 130″ / 330 cm wide, this fabric provides substantial coverage for tall spaces, large windows and wide installations while helping reduce the number of seams required. The extra-wide construction is particularly useful for floor-to-ceiling drapery, wedding ceiling swags, ceremony backdrops, ballroom installations, pipe and drape and hospitality projects.
The crisp White colour provides a clean, elegant look for weddings, hotels, banquet halls, churches, event venues and contemporary residential or commercial interiors.
130″ FR Batiste is approved to both NFPA 701 and CAN/ULC-S109. Fire-rating certification is available for projects requiring documentation for venues, architects, designers, schools, institutions or fire-code approval.
Samples and project pricing are available through Equus Fabrics.

Why Choose Batiste Instead of Voile?
Batiste and voile are both lightweight sheer fabrics, but Batiste generally offers slightly more body and visible texture.
Voile typically has a smoother, lighter and more transparent appearance, while Batiste can provide a somewhat fuller and softer look. This makes Batiste particularly attractive for decorative drapery, weddings, event installations and applications where a flowing sheer is desired without looking overly delicate.
Why Choose a 130″ Wide Sheer?
The 130″ width is particularly useful for large-scale drapery because it can reduce the number of seams required during fabrication.
For tall windows, wedding installations, ceiling draping and commercial projects, the additional width can create a cleaner finished appearance while also giving workrooms greater flexibility during fabrication.
Fire-Rated Batiste for Canadian Projects
For Canadian commercial and public-space installations, fire documentation is often an important part of fabric selection.
130″ FR Batiste is approved to CAN/ULC-S109 and NFPA 701, making it suitable for many projects where certified fire-rated drapery is requested.
Certification documentation can be supplied upon request.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this Batiste fabric fire rated in Canada?
Yes. 130″ FR Batiste is approved to CAN/ULC-S109 for Canadian projects and NFPA 701. Fire-rating documentation can be supplied upon request.
Is FR Batiste suitable for weddings and event draping?
Yes. Its lightweight construction, flowing drape and extra-wide 130″ width make it an excellent option for wedding backdrops, ceiling swags, ceremony draping, ballroom décor and other large event installations.
Can 130″ Batiste be used for ceiling draping?
Yes. The extra-wide width is particularly useful for ceiling treatments and large decorative installations because it provides substantial coverage while helping reduce seams.
What is the difference between Batiste and Voile?
Both are lightweight sheer fabrics. Batiste typically has slightly more body and texture, while voile generally has a smoother and more transparent appearance.
Can Batiste be used for curtains and residential drapery?
Yes. Batiste can be used as a light-filtering sheer on its own or layered with heavier drapery when additional privacy or light control is required.
Is this fabric suitable for hotels and commercial interiors?
Yes. Its wide width, elegant sheer appearance and NFPA 701 / CAN/ULC-S109 fire certifications make it suitable for many hospitality, event and commercial drapery projects.
Does Batiste provide privacy?
Batiste is a sheer fabric, so it is designed to filter and soften light rather than provide complete privacy. Additional fullness or layering with another fabric can provide greater visual coverage.
Can Batiste be used for pipe and drape?
Yes. Batiste can be used for decorative pipe-and-drape installations, especially for weddings, events, hospitality spaces and other applications where a soft translucent appearance is desired.
Can I receive the fire certificate with my order?
Yes. NFPA 701 and CAN/ULC-S109 certification documentation is available for projects requiring proof of fire compliance.
Can I request a sample?
Yes. We recommend reviewing a physical sample whenever transparency, colour, texture and drape are important to the finished project.
